United

by Jason Anick and Jason Yeager

The first collaborative album from violin/mandolin virtuoso Jason Anick and pianist/composer Jason Yeager, UNITED (Inner Circle Music, March 2017) has been named of Downbeat Magazine's best albums of 2017, also receiving a 4.5-star review. It features a diverse array of original compositions and unique covers of the Beatles, Miles Davis, and Polish violin legend Zbigniew Seifert. The recording also includes guest appearances by George Garzone, Jason Palmer, Greg Loughman, John Lockwood, Jerry Leake, Mike Connors, and Clay Lyons.

United has been called “some of the most beautiful chamber jazz you will ever hear” (Rotcod Zzaj blog) and “a joy…[to hear] the unfettered way that musical genre is ignored” (All About Jazz).

"If one must point to a single track as the finest among United's many gems, that might be 'Sweet Pea'....it begins with Yeager alone, making the intention of his tune clear with delicate, arpeggiated chords played in a sighing rubato."  -Bob Doerschuk, Downbeat Magazine, August 2017

"Both Jasons and their guests improvise eloquently, but it's the content of their inventions, not any showiness or exploitation of cliches, that moves the listener." -Bob Doerschuk, Downbeat Magazine, August 2017
