New Songs of Resistance is on the GRAMMY® Ballot!

I am thrilled that my most recent release, with Outside in Music, is on the 2020 Grammy® ballot in two categories: Best Latin Jazz Album, and Best Improvised Jazz Solo. The latter category refers to my friend and colleague Mark Walker's outstanding drum solo on my arrangement of "Gracias a la vida," by Violeta Parra.

This album features original music as well as compositions by Violeta Parra, Victor Jara, León Gieco, and Chico Buarque. These heroic artists' willingness to speak truth to power through song galvanized millions to fight for freedom, human rights, and democracy in the face of unspeakable abuse of power and demagoguery. I hope the album honors them and the spirit of their uplifting art in these troubling times.
